Wayfound ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of families who use our platform. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and authentication credentials through our authentication provider (Clerk).

Family profile: You provide information about your child including name, date of birth, diagnoses, location (state and county), current services, and insurance type. This information is used solely to personalize your experience and calculate program eligibility.

Documents: You may upload documents such as IEPs, IHSS notices, denial letters, medical evaluations, and other records. These documents are stored securely and analyzed by AI to provide personalized guidance.

Conversations: Your chat conversations with the Wayfound navigator are stored to provide continuity and improve your experience.

Usage data: We collect basic usage data such as pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns to improve the product.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Personalized guidance: Your family profile and documents are used to provide tailored eligibility recommendations, document analysis, deadline tracking, and navigator responses.
• Cross-document intelligence: When you upload multiple documents, Wayfound may cross-reference them to provide richer analysis (e.g., using your medical evaluation to strengthen your IEP analysis).
• Product improvement: We use aggregated, de-identified usage patterns to improve Wayfound's features and knowledge base.
• Communication: We use your email to send account-related notifications, respond to feedback, and (with your consent) share product updates.

3. What We Do NOT Do

• We do not sell your personal information or family data to anyone, ever.
• We do not share your information with advertisers.
• We do not use your family's data to train AI models for other companies.
• We do not ask about or collect immigration status information beyond what you voluntarily provide in your family profile. Our immigration-aware features are designed to help families, not to report or track immigration status.
• We do not share your information with government agencies, schools, or service providers unless you explicitly ask us to (e.g., generating an email to your child's school).

4. Immigration Safety

Wayfound is designed to be safe for families of all immigration statuses. We clearly label every program with whether it affects immigration status. We do not report immigration information to any agency. Your use of Wayfound cannot be used against you in any immigration proceeding.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure:

• Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest
• Authentication: Clerk (SOC 2 compliant)
• Document storage: Supabase Storage with encryption at rest
• AI processing: Anthropic (Claude) — your data is not used to train their models
• Search: Pinecone — document embeddings are stored with family-level access controls

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS 1.2+). Access to production systems is restricted to authorized team members only.

6. Data Retention

Your family profile, documents, and conversation history are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all associated data within 30 days, including documents, conversation history, and family profile information.

You can delete individual documents or conversations at any time from within the app. Deleted data is removed from our systems, including any AI-generated analysis and document embeddings.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data we have about your family through the app
• Correct: Update your family profile and child information at any time
• Delete: Delete individual documents, conversations, or your entire account
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us
• Opt out: Unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time

8. Children's Privacy

Wayfound is designed for parents and guardians to use on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. All child information is provided by the parent or guardian account holder.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your information. We do not sell personal information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the app. Continued use of Wayfound after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
